Hillside erosion can result in landslide losses if proper drainage systems are not installed at the outset. In the hilly areas of Southern Califiornia, residential and commercial developers have erosion control drain installed before any building takes place. These drains prevent rains from washing away hillsides, destroying life and property below. On twisting hillsides, a bucket mounted level helps eliminate distorted ditch configurations which can later lead to a disaster in heavy rains.
